I know I’ve been rather quiet with my updates, and that is because I’ve been ordering groceries and supplies for delivery so I can stay out of the stores. I’m so tired of ordering and list making and sanitizing absolutely everything including extra cleaning of my fruit and veg. I’ve never washed so much stuff in warm water and soap in my life. .

Then I measure everything into 6 ounce portions and put them into individual freezer bags. 🍌🍊🍋🍓🍈🍑🍒🥦🥕

I’m doing this to make Sure we have a steady supply of fresh fruit and veg every single day. I know I primarily share cookies and cakes with you, but I have a smoothie every day filled with fruit and vegetables to keep us healthy.

.
I don’t want contact with anyone for the next month or 6 weeks so I’ve been ordering and prepping food to have enough on hand to get us through. It’s been draining and stressful and I’m tired of it. But so many others are not being careful and not doing their part to be good citizens and sacrifice in the short term so we all have a better outcome. It makes me sad to see it. .

I’m grateful I have the ability to take care of us and do pray every day we get through this and the people I love get through it. And I am thankful for these delicious grapes that will nourish my body over the coming weeks that I may do the work I’m here to do. Which right now seems to be staying alive. .

I will have a video for you next week showing the process I’ve been following to prep my fruit. I’m going to continue doing it in the future to reduce grocery visits because it is working so well. .

I was going for baby blue, but the yellow of the butter interacted with the blue color I added, and I wound up with this lovely minty green. ⁠⠀

So keep in mind that that the color of your frosting base can interact with the color you are trying to create. So I need a clean white base for my frosting before I add the blue coloring to get what I'm really going for. ⁠⠀

So it wasn't what I planned, but sometimes things happen in the middle of a project we need to get finished. I went along for the ride, and made it work. And everyone has absolutely loved the result. So don't be afraid to experiment and have fun with your bakes and your decorating!⁠⠀

For the longest time I was afraid to pipe frosting. 😲⁠⠀

It seemed so hard, and I felt like I made a mess no matter what I did. Then I learned a couple of things. 1. The Wilton 1M tip is life. If you only have one frosting nozzle, that 1M from @wiltoncakes is the the one to have 2. get comfortable with your frosting and thin it out a little more than you think you should. ⁠⠀

A lot of people are super down on American buttercream frosting. Yeah, it's a lot of sugar. No doubt. But it's frosting, not health food. Also, the sugar is what gives this frosting its structure. This is the easiest frosting to make, and you can pretty much count on a good result even if you are new to whipping frosting from scratch. If you want those pretty, ruffly swirls American buttercream is your friend. To tone down the sweetness a little, I always use salted butter. I swear by the Trader Jacque, because it's basically generic French butter. And French butter is a bit higher in butter fat and gives a better result in most baked goods. And Frostings. Use a tangy buttermilk as your milk to thin the frosting at the end. The tang of the buttermilk with the salted butter help cut the sweetness of the powdered sugar.⁠⠀
